Well
now... This site has been around for about 7 years now and I thought it
would be a good time to move into a slightly different direction and a new
focus. Originally, its goal was to support, relive and remember what's
commonly known as glam rock; big hair, lots of make-up and screaming guitars
from some of the best bands out of the 80s.
So what now? The 80s have been over for almost 15 years now and when I look back through my own music collection, some of the best stuff I have was actually released in the 90s and even this new millennium. I'll admit it. I fell into the alternative/grunge trap myself. I was the first one one my school bus to pick the 'new' Ten album from Pearl Jam. After a while though, that sound just wasn't enough for me.
But that's where the main focus of Digital Glam is changing. You can't pigeonhole one particular decade and say that music from any other decade sucks. Yes, a vast majority of it isn't worthy enough to wipe my ass with (take 5 minutes to watch TRL for an example), but the really good music is hidden within the cracks of mainstream.
You probably found this site by accident because you were looking for info or music from a band you already knew about. But the internet has become an excellent source of finding new bands and new music from all over the world. Digital Glam's main priority will still be the bands you already know and love, but it will also try its best to introduce you to something new. You have to open your mind and ears and be willing to click that link to the band you've never heard of. Yeah, it might be the worst song you've ever heard, but when you stumble across that virtual diamond in the rough and it rocks.... I don't know.... There's a special feeling you get when you find something you weren't looking for.
