THE very first concert I went to was a Crue show. I was visiting my sister
and her husband in upstate New York when I caught a commercial advertising the
concert. I HAD to go. One day while doing some shopping at the mall, my
sister surprised me with 2 tickets to the show. I was psyched!! The second
ticket was for my brother-in-law. She's not the rock n roll type really....
Anyway, the show was in Weedsport, NY in support for the Dr Feelgood album and
the opening band was Tesla. How cool was that!? It was an outdoor gig and we
started out on the floor. Well I was only about 12 or 13 so obviously I was
too short to see over heads. My brother-in-law and I went around back of the
bleachers and climbed up. We were dead center on the top row. Some of you
may be wondering what's so hot about the top row/last? Well, remember it was an
outdoor gig? The laser show was amazing especially with 'Alister Fiend.' If we
had stayed where we were we would have missed a lot of cool shit. Anyway, it
was of course AMAZING and I took some good pictures believe it or not. Too bad
I've changed residences so much I don't have them anymore. Hmmm. Sad. After
that show I bought just about anything CRUE I could get my hands on.
A couple years
after that, the announcement was released that Vince had separated from the
band. Ya know, I own every major release Crue put out EXCEPT the Corabi album.
No thanks. But wait!! The "Day of the Pig" was back in June `98 and yes, Vince
is has returned! After all these years, the Generation Swine album debuted at
#4 on the charts. Their first public appearance back together again was on the
Grammy Awards show singing 'Shout `98.' The album is definitely not their old
sound, but it is better than the album w/ John Corabi screaming. He is a good
singer (I like him with Union), but Motley Crue isn't Motley Crue without Vince.
Tommy's gone now
too, if you didn't know. He left to start his Methods of Mayhem, a sort of
rap/rock group that, in my opinion, is only 'eh..' His first replacement was
Black Sabbath's drummer but due to health problems, had to leave and then was
replaced with the former drummer of Hole. She's not Tommy (lacking on the
technical side), but she can definitely pound those skins.
Here is the

also check out RealAudio & Video there of past and present up to date shows.
A second Greatest
Hits album was released in late `98. It's basically the Decade album plus 2 new
songs. Nothing from the Corabi days or Generation Swine. Why was this?
In support of
this album, Crue appeared just about anywhere possible. Example: WWF Raw with
Degeneration X. They played Girls, Girls, Girls and DX got to sing along too.
My only complaint about the performance is the fact that TV producers feel they
have to put such cheesy effects on the picture to make it look good? WWF Raw
did it, the Grammy Award show did it, and even the Arsenio Hall show did it (way
back when). Why?
