Totally wild and crazy! These
guys were nothing but pure fun to listen to. I didn't get to see them until the
"King for a Day Fool for a Lifetime" tour and they rocked The Edge nightclub in
downtown Orlando (now a country bar painted like a cow???).
Faith No More pretty much started out back in 1982 (as 'Faith No Man') but didn't make it big until `87. Believe it or not, but Courtney Love was at one time Faith No More's singer. On the first album "Introduce Yourself," Chuck Mosely had vocals but rather than putting him through the embarrassment of being kicked out of the band, everyone else quit.... then eventually adding Mike Patton to the line up for their next release, "The Real Thing" and their first hit single, "Epic" (remember the goldfish?). Mike Patton also has numerous side projects, one of the better known being a band called Mr. Bungle. Mr. Bungle is more on the experimental/jazz side of the music industry and the 1st album was produced by John Zorn. One of his latest that I picked up is Tomahawk which is a little more of my speed than Bungle.
Then one dark day:
From the Official Press-Release:
"After 15 long and fruitful years, Faith No More have decided to put an end to
speculation regarding their imminent break up... by breaking up. The decision
among the members is mutual, and there will be no pointing of fingers, no naming
of names, other than stating, for the record, that "Puffy started it".
Furthermore, the split will now enable each member to pursue his individual
project(s) unhindered. Lastly, and most importantly, the band would like to
thank all of those fans and associates that have stuck with and supported the
band throughout its history. "
Comment from Bill Gould
(bassist and one of the founding members of FNM):
I personally would like to thank all of you folks who've done such a fantastic
job in keeping us alive, and growing with us through our changes, but especially
in helping make our band available to people through the internet, because I'm
absolutely convinced that without all of your help we would have been ignored
(especially in the States).
Seeee
ya,
Bill
