What a great band. Consisting of
Tom Kiefer, Eric Brittingham, Jeff LaBar and honestly on of the best drummers
I've ever seen, Fred Coury, these guys have been around for almost 20 years and
are continuing to draw in huge numbers at their shows.
The first time I had the chance to
see them, I didn't... It was with White Lion and David Lee Roth I think and I
wasn't aloud to go because I was 'too young.' Oh well.
YEARS later, In early `98,
Cinderella was headlining a club tour with my friend's band, Hair of the Dog
until Tom damaged his vocal chords and needed immediate surgery. Luckily he
made a full recovery and the tour continued. In September of the same year, I
received a laminate from the HOTD guys so I could catch 4 of the 6
Cinderella/HOTD Florida shows. BLEW MY MIND! And being just a club tour, I got
to meet some of the guys and promoter which was cool. Back then I was thinking
about being a roadie (aka grunt man). Man, what a crazy week that was! From
car accidents to sleeping at the Salvation Army..... It went from Jacksonville
to Tampa, to Ft. Lauderdale, up to Orlando (where I live), back down to Ft.
Myers and then as far as you can go in Florida to Pensacola Beach. For a more
detailed account, check out my 'War Stories' at
HOTD Rocks.
I saw them again in 2000 as part
of Poison's Power to the People summer tour also with Slaughter and Dokken. I
think all the bands rocked, but damn, Cinderella blew everyone away that day. I
guess that's why Poison asked them back on the 2002 tour (also with Faster
Pussycat and Winger). SO guess what happens? Cinderella was supposed to be the
3rd of 4 acts that night. The Cinderella stage is all set and ready to go when
an announcer comes out to say Tom through his voice out (again!) A month later
Cinderella came back to make up the show. Awesome as always, but this time they
turned me on to a new (old) band called Julliet. Expect a feature on them here
at Digital Glam soon!
